The beauty we see in a flower, in a tree, is often an expression of a mathematical fact. -Fern Hunt

I have been a public school teacher for 18 years and have taught children and supported parents in a variety of settings including traditional district schools, public charter schools, and in a public hybrid homeschool model. I’m an Elementary Math Specialist at the UCLA Curtis Center and was an adjunct professor in the math department at UCLA teaching prospective teachers about the mathematics theories that the elementary mathematics standards are built upon.

In all of the positions I have held, I have found myself drawn to helping the parents, educators, or any grownup involved in supporting a learner’s mathematical development. In every school environment I’ve had the privilege of teaching in, I have found children who are innately excited about math and grownups who simply want to be able to support their learners as best as possible. And it’s for this reason that I started 123 Count with Me.

I hope that you will find the support, inspiration, and resources you need here on this site. It is an honor and privilege to be a part of your learner’s journey.

What We're About

Our Mission & Vision

At 123 Count with Me, we want math content to be engaging, challenging, rewarding, and exciting. We want learners to see that math is all around us and an intricate part of our lives. We want all grownups who support young learners, whether in the classroom, in a homeschooling environment, or during the precious time you spend with your children at home, to feel empowered with a deeper understanding of math and the tools you need to make math engaging and exciting for your learner.

At 123 Count with Me, we believe learning is something children are naturally wired to do. If we give them space to explore, time to grow, and tools to play with, children will use their natural curiosity to pursue their own quest for meaning.

The spark you see in a learner’s eyes when the pieces of a mathematical puzzle become a clear picture. When an adult who has always believed that they’re “not good at math” chooses to believe differently about themselves. When the glow of new found confidence radiates from a parent’s face as they leave a workshop. Learning is magical and being a small part of making that magic happen is a privilege and joy.

Our Hopes for the Future

Our long term vision is to create a non-profit that has the resources to support preschools all over the nation. It is our strong belief and deep understanding of the most current research that early, effective, and meaningful mathematics education significantly impacts the numeracy AND literacy of early learners. The more math we do with our littlest learners, the better readers they will be!

We hope to someday be able to partner with and provide high quality, meaningful, and effective early mathematics support to as many preschool teachers as will give us the honor of doing so.
